Newcastle Williamtown Airport commences works on Astra Aerolab aerospace precinct

Newcastle Williamtown Airport commenced (14-May-2019) early works for Astra Aerolab, the airport's defence and aerospace precinct. Commenting on the state government's AUD11.7 million (USD8.2 million) grant for the project, New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro commented: "The infrastructure we have funded will allow aviation companies to quickly establish themselves within the precinct... By funding the Astra Aerolab precinct, we are helping to create jobs for aerospace engineers, aviation, IT and avionics specialists and attracting workers to the Hunter region". As previously reported by CAPA, Astra Aerolab is expected to deliver more than 5000 jobs upon completion, and contribute AUD246 million (USD172 million) p/a to the New South Wales economy.
