Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport expects to commence expansion works on its runway in Jun-2018, following the approval of a KES19.52 billion (USD189 million) loan from the African Development Bank (The Nation, 23-Oct-2017). The KES37 billion (USD358 million) runway will extend from 4200m to 4800m and from a width of 60m to 75m, allowing the airport to accommodate larger aircraft such as the A380 and Boeing 747-8.
