1 May, 2018

Corporacion America Uruguay CTO Ricardo Cerri stated Montevideo Carrasco Airport is trialling the implementation of facial recognition e-gates, set to become the first airport in South America to implement the system (HostelTur, 29-Apr-2018). Around 35% to 40% of the airport's passengers are eligible to use the facial recognition. The airport is working with LATAM Airlines Group to trial the system. The airport is also deploying technology to track and analyse a passenger's digital footprint inside an airport, including location and time spent in each area.
