Melbourne Airport introduces Smiths Detection units allowing laptops and liquids to remain in bags

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport implemented (02-Oct-2019) Smiths Detection's checkpoint screening technology featuring Computed Tomography (CT) X ray in Terminal 4. The HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX units allow laptops and liquids to remain in bags and was first trialled at the airport in 2018. The T4 domestic terminal currently features four of the units, while two additional units in T4 and another seven in T2 are expected to installed over the next two months. [more - original PR]
