Melbourne Airport CEO: Additional regulation to 'give the whip hand to incumbent airlines'

Melbourne Airport CEO Lyell Strambi stated (18-Sep-2019) a case for additional regulation will "give the whip hand to incumbent airlines, allowing them to delay investment and reduce competition". Mr Strambi reported the airport reached an agreement with "all 47 airlines operating out of Melbourne" and concluded a "new ten year deal with Qantas for Terminal 1". Mr Strambi stated the new agreement includes "a Capital Consultation Group, annual price resets should capital investment fall short of plan, a quality forum and rebates where we fail to meet service levels".
