MBIE: Intl visitor spending at USD7.2bn in year ended Sep-2018 with 14% rise in China spending

New Zealand's Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) reported (15-Nov-2018) international visitor spending of NZD11.1 billion (USD7.6 billion) for the 12 months ended Sep-2018, up 5.4% year-on-year. Chinese spend contributed to the overall rise, up 14% to NZD1.6 billion (USD1.1 billion) with an 11% increase in Chinese visitors. A weaker NZD against the EUR has driven European spending in New Zealand.
