Macau visitor spending down 70% in 1Q2020

Macau's Statistics and Census Service reported (May-2020) visitor spending declined 70.4% year-on-year to MOP5010 million (USD626.1 million) in 1Q2020, as visitor arrivals declined 68.9% to 3.2 million. Per capita spending by mainland Chinese visitors fell 3.2% to MOP1789 (USD223.6), per capita spending from Hong Kong and Taiwan visitors also declined to MOP851 (USD106.3) and MOP1228 (USD153.5), respectively, while spending from South Korea increased 47.5% to MOP2108 (USD263.4).
