Lufthansa Technik helping to push for SLA standardisation for inflight connectivity

26 April, 2019

Lufthansa Technik head of connectivity Lukas Bucher reported a lack of a service level agreement (SLA) standard for inflight connectivity prompted it to participate in the Airline Passenger Experience Association's (APEX) Connectivity Working Group (runwaygirlnetwork.com, 24-Apr-2019). Mr Bucher said there is little pressure on the existing big connectivity providers to to standardise, as each provider has its "their pros and cons and if you standardise, that is going to go away to some extent" while others believe it is "absolutely crucial to make that a better situation". The providers are "working along" on standardisation via APEX and the Connectivity Working Group although there are still no standards to measure SLAs.
