Deutsche Lufthansa AG CEO Carsten Spohr reported plans to increase Lufthansa base cost airfares by around 20% from EUR29 to EUR35 in 2019 (dpa/aeroTELEGRAPH.com, 13-Nov-2018). Mr Spohr said the adjustments are necessary to create a "healthier business environment" for the carrier. "If you pay less for a two hour flight than for a two hour car park, then something is wrong", he argued. As previously reported by CAPA, Mr Spohr had previously noted the group expected rising fuel costs to lead to higher ticket prices from 2019 at the latest.
