Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr stated: "The future of Lufthansa is being decided in these days", adding: "It is about avoiding an insolvency with the help of the governments of our four home markets" (Bloomberg, 30-Apr-2020). As previously reported by CAPA, the carrier is in the process of finalising around EUR9 billion in state aid and is reportedly considering applying for creditor shielding procedures at its mainline Lufthansa brand as negotiations with Germany's government intensify.
