London Gatwick Airport increases lead as world's busiest single runway airport

London Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate outlined the airport's growth plans following strong growth for the six months to 30-Sep-2017. Mr Wingate said: "We have ambitious plans to build on these results to reach 50 million passengers per year and beyond which will further set the standard for a single runway airport. This will be done while continuing to deliver the best passenger experience which is at the heart of everything we do at Gatwick". The airport handles 45.5 million passengers p/a and increased its lead as the world's busiest single runway airport with a 12.4% increase in long haul traffic. [more - original PR]
