Lion Group to be first A330neo operator in Asia as AirAsia X delays deliveries

17 July, 2018

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'A330-900neo: Lion Group leapfrogs AirAsia X as first Asian operator', stated (16-Jul-2018) Lion Group has committed to four A330-900neo aircraft for delivery in 2019, and will be the first A330neo operator in Asia. Lion Air will operate A330-900neos in a single class configuration, while Thai Lion Air will configure the aircraft in two classes. AirAsia X was an A330-900neo launch customer, but delayed deliveries from 2018 to at least 2020. AirAsia X has been trying to renegotiate its A330-900neo contract, potentially securing bigger discounts while switching to a higher gross weight variant. AirAsia X accounts for 66 of 232 A330-900neo orders. [more - CAPA Analysis]
