LATAM Brazil CEO: WiFi service offering 'becomes a differential'

LATAM Brazil CEO Jerome Cardier confirmed the LATAM Group "consciously deferred the implementation" of onboard WiFi (AirlineGeeks, 24-Jan-2018). "We did not see that it was a positive business case, because of the equipment costs, weight and aerodynamics that reflect in consumption", he said. Mr Cardier added: "We realised that now, with other ways of financing that are not limited to the airfare the passenger pays, the offer of this service becomes a differential". LATAM's fleet is planned to commence roll out of WiFi in Apr-2018, while the project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.
