9 January, 2018

LATAM Airlines Brazil CEO Jerome Cadier stated a Brazil-US open skies agreement should serve to stimulate the recovery of air travel demand in Brazil, increasing connectivity and competition (Valor, 09-Jan-2018). As previously reported by CAPA, the agreement was signed in 2011 and is being sequentially implemented, with the final phase being approval by the Brazilian Parliament and sanctioning of the President. The agreement was approved by the Lower House and is under proceedings in Brazil's Senate. American Airlines country manager Brazil Dilson Verçosa expects the agreement to be sanctioned in 1H2018.
