Korean Air to take 'more aggressive' strategy to LCC competition

Korean Air chairman and CEO Walter Cho said the carrier plans to take "more aggressive strategy" towards LCCs, concluding that "we can't ignore the situation any more" (ATW/Yonhap/The Korea Times, 03-Jun-2019). He said that there are more routes where the carrier overlaps with LCCs, adding that LCCs are also moving into sectors traditionally dominated by Korean Air, including long haul international routes. The carrier also said it is likely to compete more actively on pricing where it overlaps with LCC routes.
