KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Netherlands CEO Harm Kreulen said the carrier wants to encourage travel by rail on short haul city pairs (luchtvaartnieuws.nl, 22-May-2019). “We believe the number of [short haul] flights can be reduced”, Mr Kreulen said, adding airline/rail cooperation along a passenger’s journey furthers a “seamless travel experience”. He argued however that rail timetables should improve coordination with KLM‘s network at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. “Business travellers want to leave from Schiphol between 06:00 and 07:00… it won’t work if the train does not arrive at Schiphol until 09:00″, he continued.
