KLM and Schiphol Airport trialling automatic aerobridge to cut disembarkation time

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport began (24-Sep-2019) trialling a new automatic aerobridge at pier F to reduce disembarkation time. New technology including bridge sensors allows a double jet bridge to connect automatically to aircraft within one minute, reducing passenger waiting time, shortening times between aircraft arrival and departure and reducing the risk of malfunction or damage caused by operator error. KLM and its SkyTeam partners will test the equipment until late 2019, with a decision on further deployment to be made thereafter.
