Tourism Authority of Kiribati CEO Petero Manufolau reported Kiribati has been awarded 'Approved Destination Status' for China, permitting Chinese travellers to visit the nation for group tours (RNZ/Fiji Sun/saipantribune.com, 14/15-Jan-2019). Mr Manufolau said: "Growth from China market will be based on a sustainable low volume, high value holiday experience promoting the unique cultures, diverse marine life, the laid-back lifestyle in the islands and its people".
