Malaysia's Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali reported Khazanah Nasional is studying "several international companies" that have expressed interest in a strategic partnership with Malaysia Airlines (Bernama, 20-Jan-2020). Mr Azmin stated: "Our intention is not to sell the national carrier but to find a strategic partner to improve its position today". He added: "I don't want to give a timeline but the Prime Minister had received a visit from an international company and I was asked to follow up on the discussion as soon as possible". As previously reported by CAPA, Mr Azmin stated the government expects a decision to be made on the strategic partner by "early 2020", adding Khazanah will remain a key shareholder in the company.
