Kāpiti Coast District Council unanimously voted to approve a NZD150,000 (USD104,340) subsidy over a three year period for Air Chathams to help it with marketing for an Auckland-Paraparaumu service (New Zealand Herald/Stuff, 13-Jun-2018). The council and the airline have been in negotiations since Mar-2018, following Air New Zealand's announcement that it would halt operations on the same route. Kāpiti Coast mayor K Gurunathan said the council will also start negotiations to secure additional funding for the carrier, potentially from the Regional Development Fund.
