Kangaroo Island Council: Airport upgrade project update

Kangaroo Island Council Mayor Peter Clements revealed (06-Jun-2017) “one of the objectives” of Kingscote Airport‘s AUD18 million (USD13.8 million) runway redevelopment project “was to enable larger aircraft to fly direct to Kangaroo Island”, speaking of Qantas‘ newly announced services from Adelaide and Melbourne. Mr Clements said the new service provides more route options via Melbourne, “instead of the need to transit through Adelaide”. As previously reported by CAPA, works under the runway redevelopment project include resurfacing and lighting upgrades, that are scheduled to complete in Dec-2017.
