JetBlue Technology Ventures sees blockchain, electronic propulsion as gamechangers for aviation

JetBlue Technology Ventures president Bonny Simi stated JetBlue Airways established a venture arm to ensure it is able to "really think beyond the horizon", particularly with regards to how technology is disrupting travel (Skift, 05-Mar-2018). JetBlue wants to "get ahead of it", she noted, with plans to focus on upcoming technology like blockchain. Ms Simi compared blockchain technology to "the 1990s for the internet, where people are like, 'Uh, what is this?'" JetBlue also believes "electric propulsion is going to change aviation for regional travel", she added.
