JetBlue observing 'evolving' smaller aircraft market before making fleet decision: CFO

10 January, 2018

JetBlue Airways CFO Steve Priest stated fleet update plans were postponed until the situation between Boeing and Airbus in the smaller aircraft market is more certain, stating: "It'd be short-sighted of us to progress with something definitive in this landscape that's evolving. If we leave money on the table because we rushed in during this changing landscape - I don't want to get into a position where we regret any decision" (Bloomberg, 10-Jan-2018). JetBlue is considering whether to retain its fleet of Embraer 190 aircraft or order newer aircraft, as well as a possible order for longer range Airbus aircraft.
