JetBlue Airways returns 10 of 34 slots at Long Beach Airport

16 April, 2019

JetBlue Airways returned 10 out of 34 slots at Long Beach Airport after it failed to meet certain requirements regarding utilisation of slots (Press-Telegram, 09-Apr-2019). Long Beach City Council introduced a rule in Nov-2018 requiring carriers to achieve an 85% utilisation rate of slots in any year. JetBlue did not meet these requirements, utilising only 66.1% of its slots at the time of voting for the new rule. Hawaiian Airlines and Delta Air Lines are on the waiting list to receive the unused slots.
