JetBlue Airways 'committed' to Latin America region as 'long term source of superior margins': COO

31 July, 2020

JetBlue Airways president and COO Joanna Geraghty said traffic between the Northeast and South Florida "held up relatively better" during the second half of 2Q2020, "in terms of geography" (Seeking Alpha, 28-Jul-2020). The carrier also experienced a "relative strengthening" of trans continental markets. Visiting friends and relatives (VFR) demand for Latin America "remained strong" during 2Q2020, particularly in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, "where we have tactically added back capacity in response to demand". Ms Geraghty said the carrier expects more than 50% of Latin American capacity to be resumed by the end of summer 2020, subject to restrictions. The carrier is "committed to this region as a long term source of superior margins".
