JetBlue Airways CEO: 'Day of reckoning' coming for aviation industry

JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes said the aviation industry is faced with a "day of reckoning" in the future (Bloomberg, 13-Aug-2020). He explained: "We can't continue with where we are in terms of the number of jobs we have, and see demand at 25% to 30% of where we'd normally be". JetBlue Airways is operating approximately 40% of its normal schedule in Aug-2020, about "10% to 15% less than we had expected to be flying in August [Aug-2020], going back to June [Jun-2020]". Mr Hayes said it is necessary for politicians to create a stimulus bill, "to help the country continue to get through this".
