JD.com to commence parcel delivery within China

    JD.com announced (18-Oct-2018) plans to enter the parcel delivery business, enabling users of its app in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai to send items throughout mainland China. JD.com intends to expand the programme to include high value items, including luxury products and consumer electronics, and add more delivery timing options. The company aims to eventually offer residential and business deliveries “from anywhere to anywhere within mainland China”. The company said the initiative marks the first entry by an e-commerce company into the parcel delivery business.
