Japan's Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Kazuyoshi Akaba said foreign visitor arrivals to Japan increased 2.2% year-on-year to 31.9 million in 2019, marking the seventh consecutive year of record arrivals (Jiji Press, 10-Jan-2020). The rate of growth has slowed from the 8.7% growth in 2018 due to decline in visitors from South Korea.
