Jamaica says negotiations with LATAM for Montego Bay-Peru services at advanced stage

26 April, 2018

Jamaica's Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said negotiations are at an advanced stage with LATAM Airlines Group to commence services from Montego Bay to Lima (Jamaica Observer, 25-Apr-2018). Mr Bartlett said a recent meeting with the airline group showed "the strongest signal that the Latin American market is now going to come into its own... We could see three flights per week between their Lima, Peru hub and Montego Bay, Jamaica within 12 months". He added: "The implications of these increased flights will be significant for the expansion of growth in South America and we could very well see my projection of 50,000 to 60,000 visitors out of the region by 2020".
