Japan Airlines (JAL) reportedly entered talks concerning acquiring a stake in Malaysia Airlines (The Edge/Taipei Times, 15-Sep-2019). As previously reported by CAPA, JAL and Malaysia Airlines announced a MoU in late May-2019 to pursue a joint business agreement to enhance the quality of services provided by both carriers on services between Malaysia and Japan. In Jun-2019 Khazanah Nasional, the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund and Malaysia Airlines' 100% owner, appointed Morgan Stanley to look at strategic options for the carrier, including a share sale to a strategic partner.
