JAL and China Eastern Airlines seek antitrust immunity to jointly market domestic services

    Japan Airlines (JAL) lodged an application with Japan‘s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to seek immunity from antitrust regulation (Air Transport News, 05-Oct-2018). Immunity would allow JAL and joint venture partner China Eastern Airlines to jointly market and sell seats on more than 130 Japanese and Chinese domestic routes. The two airlines have offered codeshares since 2002.
