‘It’s oh so quiet’ – new ‘Quiet Mode’ one of a range of new features available for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV rides

Since its formation, Uber has expanded mobility options by delivering new modes of transportation to the demands of users. With different price points for passengers based on their needs to has become among the perfect present day example of industry disruption. But, it continues to evolve aware that just as it had disrupted the ridesharing, ride service hailing, food delivery and bicycle-sharing systems, it is not immune to competitive forces.

Its latest development is to offer additional personalisation options for passengers using its Uber Black and Uber Black SUV luxury experience offer in the United States of America (USA). This is the space that Uber first arrived into the market, a luxury version of what today is known as UberX. It provides a luxury sedan vehicle or SUV, black in colour, with immaculate black leather interiors and well-mannered and professionally presented drivers.

In response to users that wanted "high-quality service and premium comfort" Uber is rolling out a new, enhanced set of features for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV "to meet or exceed" user expectations on every ride. Whether it's heading to an important business meeting, or arriving in style for date night, the new options within the app offer an increasing number of ways for riders to personalise their experiences.

The most notable is the introduction of 'Quiet Mode' where users can signal to drivers that they're not interested in a conversation other than at pickup and drop-off. It may be for business needs to respond to emails or a need to switch off, even a welcome short nap, drivers will be alerted to the fact that you want some peace. Similarly, the setting can be set for "no preference" or "happy to chat" for those in the mood for conversation.

Other new options are 'Help with Luggage' so users can alert drivers that an extra pair of hands is needed to carry and load luggage, and 'Temperature Control' so whether the user wants air conditioning or heating ramped up the driver will be aware of optimal temperature requirements before arriving for pick-up. Meanwhile, 'Consistent Vehicle Quality' allows users to gain a standardised service to their individual needs with consistent vehicle model, makes, interiors, and exteriors.

The premium feature preferences including Quiet Mode, help with luggage, temperature control, extended pickup periods and premium support was introduced for all US Uber Black and Uber Black SUV users from 15-May-2019. Uber says new driver and vehicle requirements are presently available in most major US cities, including 35 in the US and Toronto in Canada, but will be extended across more cities in the coming months.
