Italian govt rejects Fiumicino Airport expansion due to environmental concerns

28 October, 2019

Italy's Ministry for the Environment Via/Vas technical commission rejected (28-Oct-2019) a project presented by ENAC and Aeroporti di Roma for expansion of Rome Fiumicino Airport, considering the expansion "incompatible with the nature reserve area on which it should be built". The Fiumicino Airport master plan 2030 was presented by ENAC and ADR on 31-Mar-2017, and was still awaiting environmental impact assessment approval from the Ministry until a few days ago.
