Istanbul Ataturk Airport terminal to be converted to an aviation university: report

    Istanbul Ataturk Airport‘s terminal facility is reportedly planned to be converted into an aviation and aeronautical university focusing on pilot training programmes (hurriyet.com.tr, 10-Oct-2018). Sections of the airport including maintenance hangars and two runways will also reportedly be preserved for general aviation and cargo traffic use. As previously reported by CAPA, IGA Havalimani Isletmesi AS CEO Kadri Samsunlu reported cargo operations at Ataturk Airport are scheduled to be be transferred to Istanbul New Airport at least one year after the transfer of passenger operations, with the transfer of passenger operations to Istanbul New Airport scheduled to be completed by 31-Dec-2018.
