Istanbul Airport commissions third runway

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held (14-Jun-2020) an inauguration ceremony for the opening of Istanbul Airport's third runway. Minister for Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the commissioning of the third runway will reduce taxiing times by 50%. Aircraft movement capacity will also increase from 80 to 120 per hour, with a daily capacity of more than 2800 movements. The airport's infrastructure offers capacity of 90 million passengers p/a currently and can be further expanded to handle up to 200 million passengers p/a by 2028 if required.
