Interjet plans expansion of San Salvador international hub ahead of first route launch

3 December, 2018

Interjet plans to develop operations at San Salvador Monsenor Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport into an international "mini hub", with services to Central and South America and the US (El Mundo, 29-Nov-2018). The carrier launched the process to acquire an AOC from El Salvador and plans to launch its second Mexico-El Salvador service in 2019. The carrier's plan goes in line with its strategy to artificially hedge its operations in USD markets, as El Salvador's currency is the USD. As previously reported by CAPA, carrier plans to launch Mexico City Juarez-San Salvador Monsenor service effective 16-Dec-2018. According to OAG, the carrier will operate the route daily with 150 seat A320 aircraft.
