Indigo Partners believes industry will face up to ‘a year or two of recovery’, Delta expects it to be longer

Indigo Partners CEO Bill Franke said the industry is “going to face as much as a year or two of recovery”, and may potentially require more financial aid (CNBC, 17-Apr-2020). Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said people “will come back” to airlines for travel once they feel safe again, both physically and financially, though he warned this may take “two to three years” (CNBC, 22-Apr-2020). He believes “there will be some behavioural patterns that will change” in customers following the coronavirus, but it will “take some time to understand what that means”. Mr Bastian added: “I do think we’ll have a portion of travel that will move over to telecommuting”. He added: “I don’t think that we’re turning into a telecommuting workforce”. He asserted “business travel is going to come back”, as people “need to be face to face”.
