IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said the carrier is assessing plans to redesign its product to operate long haul services between India and Europe, including offering a business class cabin and making changes to seat pitch, menu and bathrooms (Bloomberg/Economic Times, 15-May-2019). Mr Dutta noted the air travel business is "strongly segmented by the length of flying" and the expectations of passengers "change a lot because the body demands change a lot". The airline plans to launch one stop operations into Western European destinations within six months using Airbus narrowbody equipment. The carrier intends to place a "large" order for a long haul capable aircraft, reportedly for the yet to be confirmed A321XLR.
