Indian Government may clear USD3bn of Air India outstanding dues to vendors prior to divestment

India's Government is reportedly considering plans to pay approximately INR220 billion (USD3.1 billion) of outstanding Air India dues to vendors, including airport operators and fuel supply companies, before issuing an EoI to divest its stake in the airline (Economic Times/Deccan Herald/CNBC-TV18/Travel Biz Monitor, 12-Nov-2019). The government is also considering plans to waive Air India's remaining INR155 billion (USD2.2 billion) working capital debt prior to resuming the divestment process.
