IATA: European airline profitability on the decline in 2Q2019 though free cash flow still ‘stable’

    IATA, in its Airlines Financial Monitor for Jul-2019, reported (15-Aug-2019) European airline EBIT margin declined by 0.8ppts year-on-year to 8.9% in 2Q2019 due to falling airfares with competition from LCCs and rising fuel costs as opposed to North American airlines. European airlines still maintained “stable” free cash flow generation as reduced capital spending compensated for the deterioration in profitability, IATA noted.
