IATA director general and CEO: 'Every person that cannot fly is a lost opportunity' for the economy

IATA director general and CEO Alexandre de Juniac, commenting on European airport infrastructure, stated (10-Jul-2018): "Every person that cannot fly is a lost opportunity that filters throughout the economy". Mr de Juniac noted 160 million European travellers in 2040 "will be disappointed" as aviation infrastructure "will not be able to cope with the volume of people needing to travel". Mr de Juniac called for improvement of throughput of existing infrastructure via more efficient and convenient processes, and optimisation of slot coordination by consistently enforcing the Worldwide Slot Guidelines at congested airports.
