IATA regional VP the Americas Peter Cerdá stated Costa Rica has had a competitive mentality to aviation policy, which has helped the country to attract "more air services than any other country in Central America" (larepublica.net, 17-Sep-2018). He added the Central America region has a geographical advantage in connecting the North-South traffic in the American continent.
