IATA, via its North America Regional Briefing for Nov-2018, reported (29-Nov-2018) initial 3Q2018 financial data confirms the squeeze on airline profit margins has continued, both at the industry and the Americas regional level. EBIT margins are currently 11.6% for North American carriers and 1.4% for Latin American carriers, both below the industry-wide outcome of 13.5%. The figure for Latin American carrier in particular represents a significant slowing compared with 3Q2017 margins of 9.8%.
