IAG planning for return to service in Jul-2020 pending easing of lockdowns and travel bans

7 May, 2020

IAG reported (07-May-2020) passenger capacity has been reduced 94% year-on-year from late Mar-2020 with most aircraft grounded due to the coronavirus crisis. Aircraft retained for operating limited passenger, repatriation and cargo-only movements are "appropriately-sized" and new-generation equipment where practical. IAG airlines are planning a meaningful return to service in Jul-2020 at the earliest, with a planning scenario that could see an overall reduction in passenger capacity of approximately 50% in 2020. The company stressed these plans are "highly uncertain" and are subject to the easing of lockdowns and global travel restrictions. [more - original PR]
