Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong travel bubble stalled by 'technical issues'

24 June, 2020

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam stated plans to form a travel bubble between Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong Province have stalled due to "technical issues" as authorities try to work around 14 day mandatory quarantine rules (South China Morning Post, 23-Jun-2020). Ms Lam said: "There are certain technical issues to overcome and [considerations on] the number of people allowed to cross the border every day. A lot of work has been done on that front", adding that Hong Kong hopes to implement the travel bubble "as soon as possible".
