Hong Kong Airlines to suspend Hong Kong-Auckland service

Hong Kong Airlines announced (14-Feb-2019) plans to suspend Hong Kong-Auckland service effective 22-May-2019, in order to "better respond to market forces and operational conditions" (NZ Herald/Bloomberg/South China Morning Post, 14-Feb-2019). As previously reported by CAPA, Hong Kong Airlines previously closed reservations from 22-May-2019 to 26-Oct-2019, switching from year round to seasonal service. The carrier operates seven times weekly, adding approximately 177,000 seats p/a on the route. Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific also operate on the route, according to OAG. [more - original PR]
