‘Help me unlock this market’ – InterJet boss calls on airports for network support

Interjet DG José Luis Garza announced the carrier is working with airport operators to develop new routes to bypass the saturated Mexico City International Airport, arguing in favour of reducing the passenger facility charge collected by airport operators (El Economista). Mr Garza stated his approach is to ask airports to “help me unlock this market. For instance, lower you passenger facility charge to develop a new route. This reduction will translate into the reduction of the fare price”. Commenting on Cancun Airport, he also stated: “We see airports with low traffic and very high passenger facility charge and we see Cancun with an enormous traffic and its passenger facility charge is one of the cheapest in the country”
