Gebr Heinemann introduced Alipay payments across its duty free outlets at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (DFNI Online/TR Business, 09-Jan-2019). The airport's existing initiatives targeting Chinese travellers includes retail, F&B options, targeted content on WeChat and Chinese language wayfinding via eDirectories and Baidu maps. As previously reported by CAPA, Heinemann Australia was also the first merchant in Australia to adopt Alipay, with assistance from EFTPOS payment provider Tyro, having introduced Alipay at Gold Coast Airport in late 2018.
