Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau: International market fuelled growth in tourism in 2017

    Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau announced (01-May-2018) the strength of the international tourism market fuelled growth in the city’s travel and tourism industry in 2017, with the pace continuing in 1Q2018. Overnight visitors reached a record 15.9 million in 2017, representing an almost 1.0% increase compared to 2016. International arrivals at Miami International Airport were up by 0.4% in 2017 year-on-year. Capacity from the Brazilian market increased by 3.2% in 2017, encouraging a “sense of optimism for a rebound from the once-top international market” in Miami. Growth in other markets such as Germany(+12.5%), Argentina (+8.2%) and Colombia (+2%), contributed to the destination’s increase in international overnight visitors.
