Gol: 'It's hard to maintain an LCC model... other carriers were not capable of adapting'

Gol country manager Argentina Ciro Camargo commented on the LCC model, stating: "It's very hard to maintain a low cost model and there is no one [unique] formula to do it" (La Nacion, 09-Oct-2019). He added that Gol commenced as an LCC and evolved to a hybrid model to address market demand, "other carriers were not capable of adapting… There are carriers which are well adapted to the market they serve". Mr Camargo pointed to Etihad Airways, stating: "It makes sense [for them] to have suites with double beds… That, in their market, works".
